Intelligent Energy Management

Energy Saving That Thinks Before It Acts

Smart G4 GRMS goes beyond key-card switching. Every energy decision is driven by real occupancy, real conditions, and real-time data — protecting guest comfort while eliminating waste across guestrooms, ballrooms, and corridors.

Ballroom People-Counter Fresh Air Control

A ballroom running full fresh-air injection for a half-empty event drains the hotel's chilled water and boiler water — reducing comfort in guestrooms and restaurants on every other floor. Smart G4 solves this with a bidirectional people counter on up to two entrances simultaneously.

How it works

Up to 2 entrances — Combined bidirectional count — entries minus exits = real occupancy
Proportional injection — Fresh air scales to actual people present, not room capacity or schedule
Protects central plant — Chilled water and boiler water stay available for all other hotel areas
Proactive, not reactive — Adjusts as guests arrive and leave — no CO₂ lag, no over-ventilation

The result: a 500-person ballroom with 80 guests injects fresh air for 80 people — not 500. The central chilled water plant is not monopolised, and every other hotel area maintains its designed comfort level.

Fan Speed as a Cooling Buffer

Stagnant air feels warmer than moving air at the same temperature. Smart G4 exploits this by increasing fan speed first when the room temperature begins to rise — improving perceived comfort without opening the coolant valve at all.

Two-stage response

1

Temperature rises → Fan speed increases

Air movement raises the effective comfort threshold. Compressor stays off. Fan uses a fraction of compressor energy.

2

Still rising → Coolant activates

Only when fan speed alone is insufficient does the compressor engage — as a second-stage response, not a first reflex.

Energy saved

Compressor activations reduced — especially in moderate climates and transitional seasons

Equipment life

Fewer compressor start cycles across hundreds of rooms means lower maintenance costs over years

Observation Intelligence — Powered by HeyOi

Smart G4 partners with HeyOi.com to layer AI-powered observation intelligence on top of the GRMS sensor network — turning anonymized occupancy and behavioral data into actionable hospitality insight, without cameras or personal data collection.

What HeyOi Adds

AI analytics layer on top of Smart G4 sensor data

The Smart G4 GRMS already collects rich occupancy, HVAC, lighting, and service-request data from every room and public area. HeyOi's observation intelligence platform ingests this anonymized data stream and applies machine learning to surface patterns that no human operator could spot manually — across hundreds of rooms, in real time.

Space utilization analytics

Which areas are underused, overloaded, or misaligned with booking patterns

Guest flow intelligence

Peak demand shifts, bottleneck detection, and service timing optimization

Behavioral pattern recognition

Anonymized occupancy trends that improve housekeeping scheduling and staffing

Predictive hospitality insights

Anticipate service demand before it becomes a complaint or a queue

No Cameras. No Personal Data.

HeyOi's observation intelligence is built entirely on anonymized sensor signals — occupancy presence, motion, HVAC state, lighting state, and service requests. No video feeds, no facial recognition, no guest identity data. GDPR-compatible by design.

How the Integration Works

1

Smart G4 GRMS sensors collect occupancy, HVAC, lighting, and service-request events across every room and public area

2

Anonymized event data is streamed to the HeyOi platform via secure API — no guest names, no room numbers in the data feed

3

HeyOi applies machine learning models trained on hospitality behavioral patterns to identify trends and anomalies

4

Hotel operators receive real-time dashboards and scheduled intelligence reports — actionable, not just informational

BMS Engineer Intelligence

The Engineer Who Can Be Anywhere

Today, a BMS engineer sits at a desk watching monitoring screens and reading system logs — hour after hour. It is monotonous work, and it requires more manpower than most hotels can justify. Smart G4 changes this.

Without Smart G4

  • ✕Engineer stationed at desk — watching screens continuously
  • ✕Logs reviewed manually — faults noticed only when visible on screen
  • ✕Response requires physical presence in the building
  • ✕Multiple engineers needed to cover shifts around the clock
  • ✕No documented record of who decided what and when

With Smart G4 SMS Intelligence

  • BMS monitors continuously — engineer is alerted only when a decision is needed
  • SMS sent directly to the engineer with the situation and available options
  • Engineer replies from anywhere — another floor, another city, another country
  • If no reply within timeout, BMS executes the pre-agreed intelligent default
  • Every alert, reply, and action logged with timestamp and engineer identity

Example SMS Exchange

BMS → Engineer

Chiller 2 approaching high-pressure limit. Current: 94% of threshold. Options: (1) Reduce load on floors 4–7, (2) Switch to Chiller 3 standby, (3) Acknowledge and monitor. Reply 1, 2, or 3.

Engineer → BMS

2

BMS → Engineer (confirmation)

Action taken: Chiller 3 activated. Chiller 2 load reduced. Floors 4–7 stable. Logged 14:32.

If the engineer does not reply within the configured timeout, the BMS executes the pre-programmed intelligent default and sends a follow-up confirmation — the hotel never waits, and the engineer is always informed.
