Question 1

What is the sBUSPro protocol?

Accepted Answer

sBUSPro is Smart Group G4's proprietary open-standard communication protocol. It runs over a simple two-wire bus and enables all 360+ SBUS Smart G4 products — plus 60+ KNX devices and 60+ wireless and retrofit products — to communicate with each other and with third-party systems via bridge modules.

Question 2

How many devices can I connect to one Smart G4 system?

Accepted Answer

Each sBUSPro segment supports up to 250 devices. Multiple segments can be connected via repeaters, enabling systems with thousands of devices across large buildings or campuses.

Question 3

Is Smart G4 compatible with KNX?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Smart G4 offers a dedicated KNX bridge that enables full bidirectional integration between sBUSPro and KNX systems. You can use Smart G4 products alongside any KNX-certified device.

Question 4

What certifications do Smart G4 products carry?

Accepted Answer

Smart G4 products carry CE (EU), RoHS, FCC (USA), UL/ETL (North America), CSA (Canada), RCM (Australia/NZ), GOST-R (Russia), SABS (South Africa), and IEC certifications as applicable to each product.

Question 5

Do I need specialist software to program Smart G4?

Accepted Answer

No. Smart G4's programming software is intuitive and does not require specialist certification. Most integrators are up and running within a day of training. This is a key advantage over KNX, which requires ETS software and specialist training.

Question 6

Accepted Answer

Smart G4 GRMS integrates with all major hotel Property Management Systems including Opera, Fidelio, Protel, Mews, Cloudbeds, and others via standard serial and IP interfaces.
