Our Story
Established in California, USA in 1986, Smart Group G4 has spent over four decades pioneering smart building automation technology. Our journey began with a simple belief: that every building — from a boutique hotel to a large commercial complex — deserves intelligent, energy-efficient automation.
In 2006 we created the first SBUS Protocol and began product testing. Generation 1 launched in 2007, followed by Generation 2 in 2008, Generation 3 in 2010, and Generation 4 in 2012 — the sBUS G4 platform that powers our 360+ product ecosystem today. Generation 5 testing commenced in 2025.

The sBUSPro Open Protocol
At the heart of our ecosystem is the sBUSPro open protocol — a single, unified communication standard that allows over 360 SBUS Smart G4 products, 60+ KNX devices, and 60+ wireless and retrofit products to work together as one system. With bridges for DALI, DMX, HAI, Nuvo, TIS, HDL, Cool Master, RS-232, RS-485 Modbus, 0-10V and more, our platform integrates with virtually any third-party technology.
